Thought I would post a couple of pics of the green hornet covered in salt a grime, and also a pic of Cris and Mike's bike in front of the store. Rick

great photos, what brand of exaust pipes are you running on your green hornet, tires have a good looking tread as well. what make are they?

Glad to see there are other hardy souls riding this winter! Tonight it was 23F - not tooo bad... heated grips help a lot. Personal record is 8F. Most of the time I'm on unpaved back roads and the frozen lake but occasionally I venture onto the blacktop. The roadsalt is a concern. All I can come up with is cold water rinse and WD40 - any other ideas? Have only had my 07 Desert GearUp since September - hate to have it corrode away before the warranty is up... The chrome on the mufflers appears to only be about 1/2 micron thick and is already showing noticeable rust. A set of Modtop's mufflers is definitely in the cards for Spring. What else is worth doing?

Thanks - V

The exhaust is an aftermarket Harley, the tires are Kenda 335's. Rick

Gotta love them hearty Maine men and their rigs!

COOL PICS Rick. Glad to see you guys are not letting a little snow, salt and sand curb your winter time pleasures. My bike is still tucked safely away in the tow hauler and missing the front wheel. I'm doing a venue at Fryeburg in the spring so may be able to catch you then and do a ride.

Gray Jay, I'm also riding an '07 G-U in desert camo. I have taken it out several times since the snow and slush monster took up temporary residence here in SE WI....Sadly, the caliper bracket and brake anchor on the front of my ride are ..shall I say, no longer pristine examples of production plating by Ural.

I'm not gonna cry in my borscht over some cruddy chrome though...I see this as the perfect opportunity to get the offending pieces PROPERLY coated to repel the nastiness known as winter in 'Sconsin....I'm thinkin' powder coating. I'd like to do the pipes too, in a flat gray or black. Chromes ok on these Russian bikes (if thats what ya want), but I'd rather ride it, than shine it. feels-good.gif

Peglegpete, Your ride looks good....LOVE the bullet holes and the bags and such. The HD mufflers are a nice touch and unlike most HD stuff these days, are NOT chromed...how do they sound? Can they be mated on to the late model pipes? Your grip gloves look very similar to some ones I got up here at an ATV- snowmobile dealer....boy do they make a difference too....fingers that actually work when you're done ridin'. biggrin.gif

I painted them black, with the help of JC Whitney pipe reducers they were made to fit. I think they sound great kind of an old fashion sound. Rather than powder coat try rattle can on your front caliper, mine has held up well. Rick

Wow that picture in front of the store looks like it could be an old Russian photo from many many years ago. Very cool! thumbsup!.gif

How are those Kendas in the snow? Gotta know!

They work great in snow, however they do wear on dry pavement. I started putting one ont the front but took it off for the summer to save it for next winter and the whinning noise was getting to me. We had so much snow last winter that the rear had hardly any wear being on snow or ice. It's getting worn down now but I should be able to get through the summer as it's a six ply. Rick
