Dalesman
Hello everyone,I am another New Guy,this time all the way from England.

I have been accessing this site for about two and a half years. My early attempts to join met with little sucess so I gave up trying. However as the site is now under "new management" I thought I would give it one last try and hey presto this time it was easy,so thanks to those who made it possible.

I started using the site before I purchased my Ural sidecar outfit (2005 single wheel drive. in Red and Cream livery)and have benefitted greatly from the expieriences and knowledge of many.In particular I would like to thanks to Bill Glaser and John BG,but thanks go also to many others. The unofficial Ural Manual is a great resource, particularly as we do not even have a local version of the Servicing CDs in the Uk,though there are some good third party publications.

With apologies to John BG and others my outfit is very, very shiny and I plan on making it shiner still as I get around to polishing more bits and pieces.
I have been riding outfits on and off for about 40 years and despite many great solo rides I still keep getting the Sidecar bug.

I have made a few small modifications and have a neat chrome locking handle on the sidecar boot lid (sorry Trunk). As you can see I have some small problems with the language (I have just found out what a Zerk is !)
I have improved the electrics with power to ther Sidecar tub,a heated sidecar seat( my wife demands certain luxuries) and a spotlight fitted to the sidecar crashbar, a Towhitch for a small trailer. I fitted one of the front drum brake stainless steel tiebars available from a German site, after first seeing it here,it certainly improved the operation.I have also modified the rear brake pedal by fitting a larger alumininium foot pad which has increased the force I can apply and improved the "feel". I have trimmed the tub with improved upholstery ,sadly I am not up tp Rich Maunds abilities but the Boss has declared herself satisfied give-beer.gif
I will try and post some pictures if my limited technical abilities will permit.

So, I am glad to have properly joined the site at last at look forward to my future menbership, thanks to you all.

Let me be the firtst to say welcome! thumbsup!.gif I too am one of the seemingly few Ural owners that keeps my bike clean and free of rust (I don't usually say this out loud around this crowd, I've even managed to polish a few bits nice and shiny too!)

Zerk? Isn't that the noise you hear when you shift?

You may be right about the noisy gearshift sound "Zerk", but in my neck o the woods Zerks are called Grease nipples (no smutty jokes, please.)
Perhaps it's time we cleaners and polishers came out of the closet; how about a "shiny pride week" on this Board ?
(Only jokin fella's,no need to reach for ya Winchester pump.....)
