Although I would never personally own one, thanks for the heads up regarding this.

I love the look of the old plunger frame but the chang motor is right up there with the diecast lump that GM put in the Vega.

Sounds like a Harley owner talking about a Ural.
My 12v side valve CJ has 27,000km and I do not hesitate taking it on 200 mile rides. Went on one last Sunday, 50+ mph most of the way. Ural 750s are a much better engine but I would much rather have a Chang engine then a Ural 650. I have never heard of a broken crank or timing gears on a Chang or a bad alternator causing the engine to grenade.
A friend had a Vega but he's all better now. I would bring him used oil from work when a little old lady had the oil changed at 1000 miles.

Chevy Vega'a are great, just scoop out that aluminum four banger and stick a small block Chevy V-8 in it. They go real good then.

I had a buddy who used to sleave Vega blocks and do some other mods to them. For quite a few years that is just about all he did in his machine shop. He had more work than he wanted. They could be made reliable so I guess in that respect they were similar to Urals or Dniepers or Changs.
