From the IMWA "Accessories" on their site:

"Ural Adventure Package includes: Front bumper w/skid plate, High mount exhaust, Rear bumper w/skid plate, Cylinder crash bar, Off-road bench seat New - $930"

Has this been "Mr. Cob Certified" like Jeep's "Trail Rated" status? unsure.gif

Seeking opinions from them "hard core" off roaders.

I wonder if they offer this kit in Raven matte black? laugh.gif

The pipe location doesn't look good for passengers on the back seat, not that this is an issue for me. A couple more pics taken by my dealer.

If you had a passenger they would have a left "hot foot" and "hot thigh"

I have bent several exhausts; normally just below the tranny, just forward of front wheel. How does this setup prevent something like this?

I don't think it does... huh.gif

DaveO had fabricated a clever custom exhaust that he made up with the pipes going to the side instead of down and the pipe running between the bike and the hack that has a little more ground clearance and might cure the problem. Link: http://www.russianiron.com/forums/index.ph...&hl=Exhaust

My own opinion of the exhaust is that it sucks, not very good location at all.

I can't tell from the angle of the pics, does that crash bar affair protect the headers?

It looks like the pipes run under the crash bar to me. Then again, my eyes aint what they used to be. blink.gif wacko.gif cool.gif :seeingeyedog:

I didn't see anything on that package that appealed to me very much. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
They should put their money into a freakin proper differential with a lock-up . Something actually useful and maybe even worth the cost....

I have been looking at the package, and would like improvements on my rig, in the areas covered by the package - I don't know how much of an improvement the exhaust is.

I liked how the crash bar goes under the cylinder.

Looks like a nice place to change foot position for a stretch now and then.

Hard to tell from the pics, but it 'looks' like that exhaust pipe will be melting a few boot heels if you move much on the foot peg. It's more likely just one of them optical illusions.

If I visit this year's Cycle Show in Chicago -I'm 2 wheeler shoppin' blush.gif - I'll have to see of they have one on display if I stop by the Ural booth.

Randy-

if you are really two wheel shopping, I think you would really like a Moto Guzzi, especially their Breva 750 perhaps. They are rock solid reliable from my experiences. Just a thought, as I know you aren't going the Ural route again.

$1000 bucks takes all the fun out of doing it yourself.

True - for a grand I can pick up a welder and some steel and tubing and learn how to do it. I like doing stuff like that. Maybe I'm just funny that way. feels-good.gif

Howdy All,

The "Adventure Package" is Urals attempt at supplying to the masses at a semi-reasonable price somethings that will make the off road experience a bit better.

(snippy, snippy)

The point I am trying to make is this, please give Ural credit for taking this FIRST step into attempting to bring to market something totally new to their product line. For the money it's a good deal, if you want better stuff be prepared to pay for it.

Thanks for your thoughts Cob.

I thought a lot of the parts pictured there kinda looked like lesser grade copies of some of the things you and DaveO made up.

Seems like a lot of people (maybe myself included) are cheap SOB's that maybe were accustomed to low parts prices.

I did plunk out some major coins to Mr. Maund last SpITS for some custom seats. Yeah, the price kinda shocked me and kinda hurt for a bit, but since then I have forgotten about that and my a$$ now enjoys the comfy seats.

I am glad Ural is offering different accessory packages you can buy. I also, think that if you don't want it fine but don't dog Ural for their attempt. I just fear that Ural will attract Gas and Go types, which will make parts and accessories more expensive and push my beloved Ural out of the tinker and fab niche. sad.gif

I won't be buying any offroad accessory package any time soon. My wife and I started our Total Money Makeover and everything is in a budget now. I am really excited about getting in out of debt and in control of our money. sleep.gif
Alexy
Good job Bear,
I wish you the best and the payoff will be a good nights sleep somewhere in the future not worrying about money.

As far as the adventure package I applaud Uralfor listening to and trying to give us,them...who ever what they want as far as options. Chevy has totally killed their suburban market by dropping the diesel suburbans in 1999 and have watched their market share plummet as the horse trailer crowd has all moved to ford 2-350 diesel crew cabs ( just a niche market comparison).
I think if they keep trying (raven and this package0 they will meet with some failures and some sucesses but it is the right thing to do to respond to what the customers want.

Does anyone know if this exhaust is two into one? Rick

I like the seat. I think I want one. thumbsup!.gif

Do you have a link for these items?

The bash plate looks interesting and that exhaust is pretty much exactly what I was planning to have made for my Sportman.

Mine would have a Supertrapp exhaust for tuning and a nice noise, but it would not be cheap!!

If it has been well designed and works for the engoine rather than against it, it could be just what I'm looking for!!

They don't make the kit anymore, however you can get the a skid guard from here....

Raceway services also sells their version of the high exhaust, and it gets good reviews. The original Ural model had a few flaws.

Thanks for the pointers, Berger.

Also saw the reverse and 2WD tank shifters. Nice!!

Shame it's so expensive...

I bought one of these kits and installed it in 2008. Skid plate under engine is good but won't accommodate a deep oil sump if you have one. left side crash bar is beefier than stock unit and saved my cylinder head more than once. exhaust has heat shield on muffler and pipe that is very affective. I've had passengers on the back and no complaints--except that you loose the left passenger peg to the new exhaust mounting bracket??? I installed a clamp on peg from an old harley to take its place. The problem with the exhaust is that the crossover passes under the bike and sits LOWER than the skid plate. soon or later somethings going to squash this section of pipe. Skid plates on sidecar do there job but seem to be overkill.

Intersting.

I'm primarily interested in the exhaust. I will have a pillion on the bike so an alternative peg is needed, in my case.

Did you experience any changes in performace, good or bad, or did you need to rejet in any way when you fitted theexhaust system?

As for a bash-plate: I may have one made locally, that would cover the crosspipe too.

Can I be cheeky, and ask if you can provide any photos of the kit on your bike? Particularly the exhaust, including the location and level of the crosspipe?

If you've not the time, no worries, but I would appreciate it, if you do!!
