your help is greatly appreciated,

I've been wanting to find one of those horns myself. Thanks for asking the question about them.

My local Harbor Freight normally has them in stock.

They are in their catalog, and on their website too.

ya, i checked those out and they are god awful ugly and big...it's 10" long...i would need to mount that somewhere where it couldnt be seen...under the sidecar?

do these just install like a replacement horn or would additional wiring (besides extending the wire to mount in an inconspicuous area) be required?
Charlie Pew
Mine is mounted under the sidecar.

From what I have read, Most "states" say you have to have a horn, but they don't say what type. I am thinking about wiring it directly to the bike horn switch... And hooking the bike horn up to a handle bar switch. Then, I don't have to move my left hand to blow the horn....

Horns! I love this thread becasue I love horns!!

I had an a-hoo-gah horn on my Jeep but I wore the damn thing out!! It's replaced w/an air horn now and it is LOUD. The a-hoo-gah horn that you can buy at Harbor Freight or at the auto parts store are very low quality. They don't even sound like the real deal. I do believe that the classic a-hoo-gah horns were motor driven (to give them that classic, deep throated AH-ooooooo-GAH sound) but I could be mistaken.

Here you go! Now THIS is a horn; http://www.hornblasters.com/ Watch some of the videos on here. They are a riot!

Now, while I love horns I will be sticking w/the stock Ural horn for my rig ... at least for the time being!

P.S. I know I'm new and excited and trying to catch up. If I get annoying by typing too much or too often or digging too far into the past just shoot me a PM and let me know. I'm very chatty and I apologize. Just excited to learn I guess. blush.gif

I had the HF version on my 1995 Ural some years back. They draw alot of juice, use a relay and a separate fused line from the better to run it!

It was a butt ugly red & silver. I just spray painted it a nice hammer finish charcoal color.

They are fun. They'll wake up car drivers too!

Tracer. You wore one out?? Dang. I would hate to be stuck in front of you in traffic! feels-good.gif

Oh, yeah! Fried it! HAHA! I can't take all the credit though. It's was a POS to begin with. I just helped it along. I love my airhorn though. I only use it when it's needed ... and in Seattle traffic ... it's a daily occurrance! I left my stock Jeep horn in there so if I really get bent out of shape I give them the double duce!! The air horn is on a toggle so my shotgunner and even have a piece of the traffic action!

In my defense the horn wasn't the 1st thing I tested on the Ural ... my husband beat me to it! He tried it out and he goes; "Pretty damn loud. That should keep you happy." HAHAHA!

I ordered some seat brackets at Raceway Services in Oregon and noticed that they sell the ah ooh ga horn for around 40 clams. By the way, I had my brackets in about 3 days. Good fast service. Raceway

At Harbor Freight they are about $10.00 now.Maybe 5 years ago they were $39.00. Now they are in a throw away category.Who cares if they only last a year or so get another one.
They are motor driven horns so a seperate button and fuse wired to the battery is a good idea.I don't know how long the original switch and wiring will take the electrical load placed on them if you wired the new horn to where the old one was.
I mounted mine under the side car also.

Harbor Freight horn is the way to go... but it ticked me off a bit. I paid almost $30.00 for the horn, and two weeks later they dropped the price it into the $10.00 - $12.00 range. flame-on!.gif

I've tried 2 different mounting locations so far. Currently, it's on the rear hack mounting brace... still looking for exactly the right spot.

A hint; wherever you mount the oogah horn, mount it with the mouth opening slanting DOWN slightly. If you don't, rainwater is gonna collect in the megaphone section and rust out the horn's diaphragm.

DON'T try to run it directly off of the horn button; the current drain is gonna make short work of the button's contacts.

Run it off of a line direct to the battery (#10 wire, fused @ about 10 - 15 amps), and control it with a relay.

PS- On the unfinished projects pile I STILL have a homebrew light bar, made of aluminum angle iron and using Harbor Freight spotlights. One of these days we'll git 'er done...

This is the Klaxon on my 2008 Tourist. It's an original 6 volt horn.
Keep in mind that the chair is on the left hand side.
The spare indicator bracket was used to mount it with an angle iron bracket.
Sorry the pic is not all that clear ... The horn is mounted so that the drain hole is at the lowest point.

6 Volt Klaxon .. original ..

The bracket is black so it is hard to pick out.
