Any of you guys remember that cool old 1995 Ural Solo I attached a cargo sidecar to? I sold it after getting my Retro.
The guy who bought it decided to show it off by doing high rpm clutch dumps/wheelies at his local Harley Bar. Got up to six wheelies before he stripped the pinion and did Lord knows what damage to the rest of it.
I had hand assembled that rear drive myself and got five years of great use from it. This guy blows it up to impress his friends.
Then the icing on the cake. (We're talking on the phone.) He asks how he can get it fixed cheap.
I told him there was no way I was gonna teach him how to rebuild a rear drive over the phone. I gave him Gene at Holopaw's info and suggested he just buy another rear drive. Those are easy enough to install.
Never heard from him again. I've always wondered what other other abuse that poor rig has taken since then. Thats a shame. Paul and I took 520 mile a day rides on it together. It occassionally broke stuff. But always gave warning. Never once made me walk. It deserved a better home.
