From your comments, I'd say that you think I'm wasting my money. Just getting ready to pick one up at Holopaw in Florida.
Going to bike week at Dayton for sidecar day, Thursday, the 4th. You coming?
MartyL
Leland, Congratulations!!! Tim will be at sidecar day with his Red October. So people will be seeing double! I wish I didn't have to work next thursday. Have fun! Enjoy your rig!!!

Man, it would be a REALLY long ride from here to Dayton...
Maybe I've just been lower class for too long, I'm used to seeing restored Urals & Dneprs for around $2000 here and had no idea that new ones were that high. Apparently it's not as extravagant as I thought...

Over here in Canada, some dealers are advertising the 2010 Gear-Up for $16,850CDN.

Congratulations Leland!!! Enjoy... welcome to the Red October club.

No waste of money from my stand point, but then I don't really want to think about the TOTAL cost todate... just want to have fun.

Not so, bro. You got plenty of class. You make em new and make em run. The dollar sucks on the international monetary market. Everything cost more now. We were just spoiled by our good fortune here... now we're owned by the Chinese. Maybe you should start building a good, cheap American bike right here! Seems that the Russians woke up and realized that Americans can't stand a bargain, they just want to spend more. I've got no choice since I want the extra speed, the upgraded needle bearing and the 18" wheels. If I could retro fit the Gear-Up with those changes I might have
kept it. We'll see how she rolls.

Hey, Gummiente, how do you like your Road Glide? By the way, the boys at Holopaw were real good to me. Got a great deal on the Red October. Check them out if you're ever interested.

Red 25, I tend to agree. We're both at an age where we are only looking forward. If we look back, someone's going to catch us! How long have you had yours? Does she really handle better with the 18" wheels?

Love the Road Glide, but it sucks at the off-road stuff. That's why I love my '05 Tourist. thumbsup!.gif

The Red October will always be just a dream for Canadians, as it was not imported here by Ural Canada... and we can't buy new bikes from the US and bring them across the border.

Went to see family Dr. this AM ...well we talked about 5-10 years out...then went on to when was I going to come to his office and give him a ride... finally some happy talk..Soooo who cares how much it costs let the good times roll! I'm not going without putting 50,000KM on, maybe I can modify hack for for internment better than my wifes idea of using the Tibetan tradition of buzzards. She tends to be VERY economical, or just cheap as S&#@.

Only had it for about six weeks...very little riding to date weather REALLY sucks(80" snow & 15-25 degrees since it arrived). I start it every couple of days instantly after circulating oil with kick starter. Must be the DNA. Can't comment on the 18" wheels this is first Ural.

Ouch to that! I imported speakers to the US and went to shows in Montreal. It was like pulling teeth to get them in and out of Canada. I thought you guys were neighbors! Sold a few samples at the shows but bringing them in was tough. The Red October probably wouldn't work for you there without the 2wd.
