Full Version: 2010 Denso Alternator Adaptor

For 2010 the adaptor for the Denso alternator has been changed. They have moved the seal to the front and I have been told the bearings have also been changed. With moving the seal to the front the flats had to be removed from the Herzog gear. This is a good improvement for people buying a new bike but 2006 bikes and older still used the Russian gear that can't be used with the new adapter. To make the new Denso alternator available for the older 650 and 750 bikes I now offer a Russian gear that has been ground to fit a smaller seal to replace the current one. Any Denso alternator coming from the factory from now on will be the newer style. Check out the pictures below.

The Herzog timing gears retrofit to the 2005 models. I had them installed on mine quite a while ago, so all I'd need to do in this case is purchase the new adapter and bolt it on. IF this new adapter truly solves all the problems, of course. I'll wait and see.

In the mean time, I removed the alternator and installed a deep cycle marine battery because I was tired of shrieking and short lived alternator couplings. 400km so far with no problems and the motor is now blessedly, peacefully quiet.
