Click to view attachment Last Friday my wife and I took off for a ride up through the hills near our home in Yacolt Washington. She wanted to see the fall colors , and since it was a gorgous day we headed out. Leaving Yacolt and heading for Chelatchie . We stopped at the Chelatchie general store for gas and something to drink we then headed toward Carson( 57 miles ) up through the mountians and back to the Columbia gorge. It starts out pavement then turns to gravel about eight miles up. It is a great road and the scenery is amazing. The nice thing is that there is nearly no traffic. We putted through the woods and Maggie would slug me when she wanted me to stop so she could take pictures. When the pavement ends , you have a choice , either the low road which stays along the canyon floor for awhile or the hi road. Which goes along the north ridge. We chose the hi road hoping to stay in the sun. We had no wildlife encounters and nothing but a great ride. We drove through Carson and then headed west on Hyway 14. We stopped in Stevenson at the Crab Shack for a great Salmon dinner and then continued west toward Vancouver and then back home just outside of Yacolt. Maggie took some 170 photo's on our ride.
Here's a picture headed towards Chelatchie.
