I forget exactly which weekend it was last year, but it seemed to work out well.  Lets try and get a # of folks interested, which date would be best for the group and I'll start the initial planning for the lake.  If another location would suit the majority better, let me know.
This thing can happen!!  I'll  bring the low-country boil fixins!!

Let's see...I lived in Charleston for 11 years, that wouldn't be AKA Frogmore Stew, now would it? :flameon:  :unsure2:

I've also heard it called a shrimp boil too.  The first time I had it, it was made with crawdads instead of shrimp.  I introduced it to the guys at the fire station and it has become a favorite!

You can count me in!  I live close, so I could fry a turkey up there or maybe we could have a fish fry if anybody is interested??

Can someone tell me exactly which campground it is at?

It's sounding better and better all the time.  Turkey or fish fry both sound great.  I have counted up around 25 already.

Do you need a head count for CRAP? 2 of us are thinking of coming down. Ill bring my Wok. I can probably make a good Chilly or Spaghetti sauce one day.

Any one else going down from the North East? I plan on leaving Connecticut on Wednesday morning and spending one maybe 2 nights on the road before arriving mid day Friday

A leisurely return 4 - 6 days of side winding back. Any takers?

Okay folks, this is sounding good! I am still in VA doing some work, but will be back this weekend and will start really calling around about the site.  Can we start a poll or something so that we can get a good number count (both those camping and those showing up on what days)?  It would be really easy to get two of the group sites side by side if needed.  I think it would be better to have too much room than  be cramped up.
And the whole fish fry/low country boil is sounding  better all of the time.
I'm having a feeling that this will be a good-un!!
For those that are wondering.....the site last year was at Jordan Lake in central NC.  The group camping sites are large and located in a nice area of the lake.  The lake is low now, but I don't think many would want to swim anyway!  You can look up the Jordan Lake web site and the site we stayed at last year is called "Vista Point".

Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in Jordan Park?  Is this enforced?  Or do we just hide the cans?

John,  Richard & I will be there Friday, as will Philip & Sandy (tent camping).  From the list I have been keeping, looks like about 15 tents, maybe more.  I only know one for sure who will not be camping, but there could be more.

In this part of the nation alcoholic beverages comes in old Mason Jars....

Be on the safe side use a can or bottle cozy/cover, down here on the coast they normally don't enforce that law unless some one complains or the party gets to wild, or if it is a great big crowd.

Last year we either put it in a cup or later just kept it in the camp fire area.  The park rangers even came around to check and see how we were doing (with cans and bottles out) and said nothing.
I found that if things stayed (kind of) civil, that there was no problem.
I was asked, however, what our "club" was all about when I reserved the site.  Once I explained that we were not a "Hells Angels" type of group and the rangers came and talked to us that we felt welcomed.  We also ensured that the site was cleaned up well so that a visit back would not be questioned.
I believe that 15 tents would fit nicely at the site, but if there are going to be many more, that we should get two sites side by side.  What do you folks think?

I'm planning to be there Fri-Sun.  Tent campling ( 1 person) and one rig - unless anyone knows if they have cabins in the area?  I haven't cllicked through the link yet.

Can't cook but will be willing to bring beer/soda.
