Mobile users - how many folks use Tapatalk for viewing forums?  We have had some requests for it for Russian Iron.  I am looking to see what it will take to implement as well as the ramifications.

I just want to get an idea to see who is using it on other sites.

I do... I use it for a couple of forums such as ADVrider. It works well for the most part but the app (iPad) tends to crash a bit too often.

I just added Tapatalk to two phpBB3 forums I run, CURD and an Iltis forum. I love this tool!! For phpBB3, it could not be simpler, you just extract and install the directory in your forum directory, register on the Tapatalk site, it will verify the install (I did not go public. Members have to search for the forums) and that is it. It did cost $2.99 to buy the iPhone app, but I really do like it. It also allows you to moderate, if you have the permissions.

I am not sure what you need to do for IP Bulletin software, but I removed the one line of code they want you to add to a php config file. What this code does is add a popup to SMART phone users who access the forum but don't have the app. Tapatalk still works without it. If you don't like it, all you need to do to uninstall is delete the directory.

Thanks Berger - I got busy and have not had a chance to do anything else on it.  The install seems simple enough - but I do not use it. I look at the full version of websites on my phone.  I was always annoyed by the popups on sites that had tap-a-talk prompting you to use it.  You say it is a line of php that does that?  Hmmmmm....

Yup. Two users on CURD reported the pop-ups when they were using their iPhone and iPad with Safari, to view the forum. As soon as I removed the one line of PHP code from the overall_header file, they told me it went away. What I like most, is that can select the forum I want from the main menu, and then it immediately tells me if there are new messages or PMs etc.

I have CURD on Tapatalk and that works fine, but I've failed so far to find Russian Iron?

Edit: now I have Soviet Steeds as well...

Okay - I now have Tap-a-talk installed.  Search for Russian Iron in your Tapatalk app if you want to use this feature.  For those not familiar - it is an app for your Ipad, Iphone or Android device that gives you a different interface for looking at the forum.  It cost 3 bucks to download it though.

Thanks for that; I had been under the impression it was already installed...

No worries! Did you get them at all, or just omit the code?
