Hello to everyone! You may remember me from my posts back in Aug. trying to figure out what year my bike was. http://www.russianir...showtopic=15627 I think the final conclusion was it's a '91-ish.

I'm finally getting ready to start the project and have a few more questions. The bike is apart right now. It has been sitting indoors all of it's life and the motor kicks over. The last time the bike was ridden was 2003-4? The PO said it had an electrical issue or he was robbing parts off of it for is BMW... The only paperwork I have with the bike is a bill of sale. I should be able to obtain a Colorado title for it through a process known as 'bonding'. I've done this several times in the past with cars and other than being a bit tedious it's not bad. My dilemma is this, the vehicle has to be road worthy (thank you very much rat-rodders) in-order to obtain a proper title. (not a builder/salvage brand)

What I think would be best is to put the bike back together enough so it functions, then tear back into it and repaint it. That being said, I'm planning on ordering a pile of parts. Rubber seals, cables, seats, etc. Can you guys suggest the best place to get the parts and what all I should be looking to purchase? The bike supposedly has 2372 original miles on it. The PO picked it up from a Russian guy in Detroit back in the 90's who claimed it was 'new'. I'm planning on doing the tires at a later date, after I have a title. Any suggestions would be great! Here's a bit more Dnepr porn:

I love that color BTW. Oldtimers Garage is really the best parts, but pricier(you get what you pay for though). Ural zentral is good, but shipping is high. Moto boxer, but prices seem high as of late. Some will chime in with ebay vendors. Yuri is good for some things. I would buy the rubber stuff and other smalls from OT garage and the other stuff here if you can. Others will chime in too.

Very nice bike.
She will make you very happy..
I will second that Ken has even the most obscure part that you will need.
And he is in the US so shipping is quick and easy.

Keep us posted.  It is great seeing another Dnepr being restored..

Just seeing your speedo reminded me to ask this but has anyone got any ideas where to buy a MPH replacement speedo for the ural dash mount, any links would be useful.
Cheers ALAN

Whoever put that 50 or 55 mph sticker did it by taking it apart. That is what I would do disassemble and put a different face on the speedo.
Or...Like I been...Don't sweat it...If you think you'll get going too fast...Put a couple lines on the face with a Sharpie!

If you have a cop friend have them beam ya with a radar, then mark your 25,35,45,55. Lol. Like RP says, could take the lens out and mark it with a paint pen or silver sharpie.

Getting back to your inspection dilemma. I would put it together, get it going [gently] and use it [again gently] to see what Both it, and You really need to do.
Kinda what I thought I would do with mine...Now I have no intentions of changing what ain't broke...I like the "Survivor" look....
