Hello, I am new to the board and have what I believe to be  a 1974 M66.  The bike has K301's with round aluminum insulators that attach to the heads. (See picture).  I need to find one replacement.  The mounting studs on the head  are not quite horizontal and the insulator corrects for this so that the carb will sit level.  The square insulators offered on line will not compensate for this arrangement.  Any suggestions short of changing cylinder heads.  Thanks, Tony

Put some pictures with your bike and the engine. K301 carbs are for M63 engine (and also M72, K750, M61, etc), that is the reason you need the piece from your picture in order to mount the carbs. You can find here some parts: http://www.oldtimerg...ex.php?cPath=26

An exemple: http://www.oldtimerg...roducts_id=3246

In the picture below you can see how a K301 carburetor is mountend on a M63 engine, there is no adapter:

Luca,  Thanks for the quick response and information.  I originaly thought that my model was an M63 until I read somewhere that the M66 has the paper oil filter which mine does.  The label on the steering yoke says 1974 and it may have been from Canada.  The engine serial # is 720750.  The picture you sent shows the mounting studs as vertical just like the k301.  The studs on the cyl head on my bike are almost horizontal so the K301 will not mount with out the insulator/adaptor.  Thanks for the referral to Old Time but they did not have any flanges.  Thanks, Tony

There are two models of cylinder heads, first tipe (like in my picture) is the tipe for Ural M61, M62, M63. The second type (like on your bike) it is for the engines with bigger intake valves: Ural M67 and probably M66. On your bike you can mount K68 carbs wich runs well, but only the originals (you can buy the carbs only from a Ural dealer).

Luca,  Thanks for the info.  Can you tell what model I have?  The K28's are horizontal so they would not fit level on the cylinder head.  It looks like I would still need an adaptor to make the carbs horizontal.  Thanks again for your help.  Tony

It must be an Ural M66 because you have oil filter, 6V generator and cylinder head for orizontal carbs, the older M63 don't have oil filter and the head cylinder is for vertical carbs, the M67 has oil filter, 12V generator and head cylinder for orizontal carbs.  I see now that I have made a mistake, I said that the original carbs are K68 (wich is compatibil with your bike whitout adapters) but the original carbs are K63 and K65. Anyway, you can buy K63 or K68 but is important to be original parts, not chinese stuff.

Don't wory about the level on the head cylinder for carbs, it will work just fine. I have seen many Urals with K68 carbs, below you have a picture with an Ural M67 of a good friend with K68 carbs and it work just fine:
