Hi Guys
just got my fully affiliated membership email this morning RESULT, my name is Alan and I live in Sheffield, England but originally from the Northeast of England. I've been out of the bike scene for years but have dabbled helping peope get there wheels fettle and I want to go back to the classic style of bike I've never like the plastic speed rockets. The fast boys and girls do their thing but I always loved to cruise about and enjoy the road not just zooooooooooooooooom past it.
I'm looking for something to restore in the 650cc benchmark and I'm not afriad of work, so a knackered engine anything realy I have been on the look out and have friends searching for me but I think I'll be buying a full combination and dismantalling the sidecar and selling it on. I do like the look of the Ural Wolf and if the finances are right at a later stage I will be wanting one of them for shure, if fits rigt in with my character lol. Theres a few combos on sale but I'll keep searching for a while and if nothing turns up I'll chase up the combos that I have heard.
Is there many  Members in England and if so is there any in South Yorkshire.
I have had a skip through the postings and theres a lot of useful stuff in there, I hope I don't pickle your brains instead of picking your brains guys lol
ALL THE BEST FOR THE NEW YEAR GUYS

Hi to the forum.

I became a foil head this week. Bought a 2000 Ural Tourist with 4800 miles on the odo. Looks great, but has sat for several years.

I'm sending from an iPad so going to make this short.

Started tearing into her. Need float bowl gaskets, float needle valves and to address the "grenade" alternator. Here's a pic. Will update profile next.

Rob

At a keyboard now, so a little more info. Carbs were ugly inside.  Heading out today to find float valves and bowl gaskets. Many ATVs, snowmobiles and even Harleys used CVK carbs. Kits are cheaper than individual parts so don't care if the jets are wrong.

Intake snorkels are a cob job. Look like radiator hoses. Need either get replacements or come up with something on my own.

Compression is 160 PSIG in both jugs.

Just noticing that this site has a lag as I type that causes lot of typing errors as it misses letters. Is this a common problem here?

regard,
Rob

This setup was/is sold by Terry Crawford.  The installation problem is that he supplies one hose that needs to be cut in half to form the two sides.  They are better than the stock ones for the 650.  I'm going to try the 3 piece ones that used to come on the 750s, that I replaced with the new one piece stock ones.

Hi,

LD here.  I'm in Temecula, Ca. Just got a Raven a little while back, just getting used to it.  As I get to know the bike,  and its loads of fun, though a bit spooky too ..;  reminds me a little of my first rides on a snowmobile.

The bike has very few miles, is in good shape all around.  Very kool looking.
