Pete Swede
Found some pictures on some very nicely restored old babes. Mike Goldthorpe
Very nice! As an aside, the R71 (3rd and 4th pic) appear to have a square section upright behind the engine - the 2D M72 drawings reminded me to look ;-)
Pete Swede
It also have small "cast rings" at the bottom of the alu plunger mountings... The BMW The M72

What kind of helmet is the guy riding the Ariel wearing? Do you mean this? WW1-WW2 British helmet.

It's definitely not the straw hat-shaped tin hat in common use by the Brits in WWII.
dneprlover
It's some sort of para helmet judging by the strap . At first I thought it was a Japanese type 90 but that can't be right. The riders uniform and sidearm look French or Belgian Must admit, I spent longer oggling the bikes than the riders

It's definitely not the straw hat-shaped tin hat in common use by the Brits in WWII. So it has to be this then ------> Link to picture Looks like a Czechoslovakian m/34 helmet (Vz32/34) from the 30ies and trough ww2. Good trivia for us in Scandinavia is that a number of these (about 30.000 I believe) where used by the Finnish army in the continuation war 1941-44. dneprlover
Think you are spot on with that ID Pete. A close look at the bayonet makes me think it's a vz23 which would fit nicely.

Even placement of the rivet match the Yugoslavian helmet you identified.

Did the Czechoslovakian Army use Ariel 350s? Or could it be a Latvian Police uniform???... The guy to the right have the right color of uniform and the same helmet. In the text it says "pre-war Latvian uniform" so that would place it in the 30s, bike from 1932... What do you think? More info here -----> Estonian police WW2

Your probably right, but it's so close so it's suspicious... Would be really interesting to know witch country and when, and also if they used Ariels...
