cward
My neighbor just bought a NEW Royal Enfield. I thought they were out of production, but as he informed me ( more like regaled me with tales of RE made in India). It is pretty , like 50s Triumph kind of . Anybody ever see one on the road? MotoJ
 Here's my '99. This model is the last of the REs that were made to the spec's of the '55 Redditch England Bullets, except it's a 500, rather than a 350, and it has 12v electrics and updated lighting.. It's right foot shift, as intended by God and Queen, points ignition, pushrods, drum brakes, etc. In 2000 they started retrofitting electric starters, and after that they went to a modified "lean burn" head and then to the UUCE motors, just a year or two ago. Those are completely redesigned bikes, with EFI, hydraulic brakes, electronic ignition, etc..

The GU Samovar
Rumors are saying than a 700cc vertical twin is in testing in India... The V twins are "only" home made.

peter hayden
I'm impressed by the homemade 1,000cc V-twin. Yow! Splicing two singles together is no easy task. Sure you can use the stock barrels, pistons, connecting rods, valve trains, carbs, etc. But there's so much to think about: the angle to join the cylinders; designing the crank and cam, ignition system that is timed correctly; how the join the cases. Wow! And then fabricating all the parts and having it all fit together and work. I suppose he had to make a new frame as well. Nice job. fatbob
Got a 2001 sitting in my shop right this minute. Mostly it sits because it's been far more of a headache than my Dnepr. One piddling thing after another until I gave up and just let her sit. It's a really pretty little 500 with the chrome tank with black side panels and I've backdated it to look just like the Redditch units (old style brake and clutch levers, larger headlight, Lycett solo seat etc.) but, like most other pretty little female things, it hates me. Pete Swede
like most other pretty little female things, it hates me. "What do I do when my love is away.(Does it worry you to be alone)How do I feel by the end of the day(Are you sad because you're on your own)No, I get by with a little help from my friends,Mmm, get high with a little help from my friends,Mmm, gonna to try with a little help from my friends"

Mike Goldthorpe
Saw the new Continental GT, both at a show and in the flesh near where I like. Looks nice, though I'd be inclined to do something with the exhaust - current set up looks like an elephants trunk on the side of the bike (in my personal opinion).http://royalenfield.com/continentalgt/
harleych
i don't know about GT but usual enfield"s rear drum brake looks ugly small
