Mike Goldthorpe
Gotta have balls backed with cash to do that these days :-) Mind you, in most of the classic bike mags I have Vincents all seem to be slightly modified in some way - disc brakes, indicators etc. For the poorer motorcycling brethren one can make a cheap Vincent clone...the Vinago! http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/multimedia/image-gallery.aspx?id=2147491099#axzz2cepCTzld

lobofuego
Have to say the Vincent is well done, but he must be a banker as i (though dearly wishing too) could not afford the bloody time off in the garage till 2am for 5 years...let alone all the machining , and the initial cost of the bike, merely to reduce its worth in the classic market, and create a machine i could not ride for fear that some lump would chuck it in his van, and drive it off overseas...also i cannot see Carol Nash not throwing a wobbly when they ask about modifications... mowich
Theres a pure Hillbilly American Bluegrass song about a 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. The song is about a guy who rides a Vincent and his girl friend. The guy robs a bank uses the Vincent for a get away ride. gets shot and on his death bed gives the Vincent to his girlfriend to ride. You can find it on youtube just search Del McCoury 1952 Vincent Black Lightning

peter hayden
My own feelings about this is that a Vincent is the Holy of Holies. Customizing one is invariably a sacrilege. He did a nice job, but why didn't he start with a Harley or a Yamaha?
beeman07
You can find it on youtube just search Del McCoury 1952 Vincent Black Lightning Or search for Richard Thompson and hear the song's writer sing it. Both versions are fine, but I'm a sucker for the original.
