  1. Just a heads-up on the dates for the Fall Annural Rebellious Tour. Mark your calendar: October 9,10,11. The second week of October - same as it ever was. Swannanoa KOA. Swannanoa, North Carolina (just outside of Asheville). Details to follow. As a teaser for those who missed it, here is a pic from last year's epic ride. Yes, that's a real geyser (sort of).
  2. The 2015 BURP rally will be held July 10-12 2015 at the Willville Motorcycle Campground located less than a mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Meadows of Dan, Virginia. Open to all Ural and Dnepr owners and other Eastern European brands, as well as anybody else that wants to come ! Anyone interested in camping during the rally should register with Will Beers through the Willville Campground website or by calling 276.952.CAMP. The campground is for motorcycles and motorcycle towed trailers only, but if you trailer your rig, there is a parking area where you can park your car or truck w/trailer away from the camping area. There are several motels nearby, also some B&B’s if you do not camp. Dinner Saturday night at the camp pavilion. Come play on the Parkway !
  3. Hi all, The annual charity ride on vintage Urals, Rally Indochina, is now in its fifth year and has so far raised over US$165,000 for Blue Dragon Children's Foundation to help kids in crisis across Vietnam. We will be running the Rally again this April, starting in Hanoi, Vietnam, on April 6 and finishing in Hoi An on April 15, 2015. We exclusively use our own fleet of vintage Urals, and follow the Ho Chi Minh Trail through three different World Heritage areas: Phong Nha caves, the imperial capital Hue and the historic port of Hoi An. The route also takes in historic sites from both sides of the Vietnam War, such as Khe Sanh combat base and the Vinh Moc tunnels. In early 2013, we were lucky enough to be joined by Charley Boorman as we rode out of Hanoi and into the limestone mountains on the edge of the city. You can see a video of Charley riding our Urals . Rally Indochina has been such a success that it has become the largest annual charity motorcycle event in Southeast Asia. We are looking for motorcyclists to take part in the Rally in 2015 and the following years. All money raised by the Rally goes directly to Blue Dragon and is tax deductible in the USA. Participants in the Rally will meet some of the children who have been helped by funds from the Rally, at Blue Dragon centers in Hanoi and Hue. If you can't make it to the Rally in 2015, you can keep up with all of the news on our Facebook page and on Twitter. You can also contact the Rally organizers at info@rallyindochina.com
  4. Hide the kid, hide the wife! Here comes the Fall Annural Rebellious Tour! When: Second week of October (same as it ever was). October 10, 11, 12, 2014 Where: Asheville, NC. Well actually, Swannanoa (just east of Asheville) at the KOA campground. 2708 U.S. 70, Swannanoa, NC 28778 (828) 686-3121. Say the words, "I'm with the Russian Motorcycle Rally" and you will receive a 10% discount. Link to KOA I've rented sites K-21 and 3 & 4 as Rally Central. For maximum fun and frolic, please rent the cabins and spaces adjoining as you can see in the map below. What will happen: Friday Night: Dinner out will be at the Historic Monte Vista Hotel in Black Mountain. The owner is very laid back - don't be intimidated by the website. We'll be dining in our own space while the Russian biker documentary "Normalno" plays in the background. Teaser: Russian Iron member Harleych has a starring role and sent me a copy packed in a headlight many, many years ago. Saturday: Lots of interesting things to see and do in the area. For those who choose not to strike out on their own, I will be leading a group ride along some scenic back roads to Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack for lunch. For the survivors, I'll provide the traditional soup-pot supper on Saturday night. Prizes? Yep. Beer? Of course. Vodka? You betcha. Sunday: Pack up. Tearful goodbyes. For the willing and able, we'll take a little ride the back way to Weaverville with a stop at the Folk Art Center for those who are interested (if you have a wife with you, you will pretend to be interested). Hey! A big thank you to the irrepressible Rich Maund for hosting FART and keeping the dream alive while I was trapped near the inner circle of thought. A big shout out to the immortal Steve Jackson for starting this rally back when Urals had only 650 engines and dinosaurs roamed the earth. We stand on the shoulders of giants... Hope to see you all there!
  5. Just click on the pictures to make them large enough to read. You say your Ural is not dual sport? Well we have you covered too! 2 rallies, same date, same location, 2 different focuses and rides. Yep, there will be 50/50, field events, door prize and a very large time.
  6. From the album: Gadgitman

This is my first rally badge and man is it Big! About 4 inches around and made from aluminum. Stuck to the inside of the sidecar.
  7. It will be in North Georgia, right near Suches and there will be no Rally Fee...that's right, a sidecar rally with no rally fee, no registration, none of that tired BS. Can't release all the details yet (but will soon), but it will be a rally, just like we've always had, without the stuff that cost us a fortune and made us lose money, so all you have to pay for is camping...more to follow after we tell the campgrounds we won't be at that we won't be there...it's only fair. Keep your eye on this space and your calendar open. It will be a big time... Oh, I can tell you all that the camp sight just put in some ATV/ORV trails on the property and it's not to far from where our esteemed moderator broke every tooth off his FD a while back...
  8. Hi, I'm planning ahead for Warm weather rides. Any Ural riders along to CT / NY Line? Or have there been any rides planned for the 2013 year? I have a 2012 Patrol since last June and its a hoot to drive. Safe Wheeling, Mark.
