I had some time this weekend and I have work on carburetors which were having problems from the factory. The carburetors are new chinese PZ28 model copied from the russian K37. Now they are working quit good with a good throttle response but I recomend these carburetors only if you want to keep an original look on the bike. -
It seems to be a MT9, the frame has short gussets for rear shocks. The engine is 100% a MT9 engine, it has 6V generator and 6V ignition. We need more pictures... the tank is a the new version starting from MT10 and the seat is not original. Here we have a catalogue: http://dnepr-kiev.com/catalogue-of-spare-parts-dnepr-mt-9-10

I don't know for MT10 but on Ural M63/M66 was the same speedo as it is in K750, KMZ K650, Dnepr MT9. From a mechanic point of view they work exactly the same starting from Ural M72 until the last Dnepr was built: 1. Wheels on 19 inches 2. Rear drive ratios are the same Just fit one in the dashboard and it will work.

Badly warped rims + Possibly misaligned rear wheel
luca.stere replied to Trinidad's topic in Nuts 'n' Bolts
I have bought from Ural Zentrale rims for M72 and these are made for 4mm spokes but I manged to put them on Dnepr brake hubs by enlarging the niple holes. The rims are good enough but I recomend these rims only for paved roads only because the material is thinner then the russian rims. -

Working on electrics and I am almost done, everything is working and I just have to start the bike in order to test the electronic relay (Vape R81). After the test I have to paint the fenders and the front fork parts and begin the final assembly for the bike. Below the rear light, quit bright for a 6V chinese copy: -
It should be on the left top mount of the shock absorber. Also keep in mind that some series of the russian bikes did not had frame number, only engine number which apeared in the papers.

Dnepr MT 10-36 - slow project
luca.stere replied to Northernduck's topic in Projects, Restorations and Rebuilds
I believe the problem with the springs is not the heat but the poor quality material of the springs. For example the Ural engines does not have this problem, also the boxer BMW aircooled engines which don't have an insulator shim under the valve springs.- 286 replies

New project: Ural M72
luca.stere replied to luca.stere's topic in Projects, Restorations and Rebuilds
I have managed to adjust the position of the front wheel by milling the front brake plate, 3 mm in the center: and 2 mm in the outer diameter: Now the wheel is aligned in the center of the front fork and fender. After that I have painted the gas tank, no filler and no polyester, just paint because as I have mentioned before this is not a final project. The gas tank was treated on the surface with an antirust compound: Green paint semimatt finish RAL 6003: -

I believe on J&P Cycles you can find old model Harley rims that fits for russian boxers. -

Yes, it shouldn't be overlapping but those brake shoes are not NOS but aftermarket parts and they are not always fit perfectly. The "bright" side is that area is not braking very hard even in a perfect braking sistem. -
Summer is begining, Covid starts to dissapear, peoples try to recover the lost time. I did not have much activity on this forum because in the last two years I had another projects (Triumpf BD250 finished, BMW R35, BMW R60/5). On russian bikes I am working on my M72, I am begining to work on a M66 engine (I will show here the work) and I have to finish a Dnepr engine. So, I am still working and I am still here. I have sold the Dnepr and now I have some space in my garage!

A small progress but important, adapting the M72 brake plate model for the Dnepr brake drum: -
I have posted here three rebuilts for M72, M63 and Dnepr 650. You can find enough infos on those topics, telescopic fork can be repaired by rectifying the pipes and making new bushes.

My ex IMZ M63:

This is a K750 produced by KMZ in Kiev Ukraine, not an M72 produced by IMZ factory from Irbit in Russia. The only part you have from M72 is the gearbox. So, you have a K750 with M72 title but the price is ok for the bike if the engine is running.

PZ30 carburator adaptor manafold for Ural and Dnepr
luca.stere replied to Scott E's topic in Dneprs, Urals, etc. - Pre 2001
Probably the kit (cables, gasket, etc) is made in Russia and that is why you find only the carbs on AliExpress. -
