  1. I will host the Blue Ridge Ural Rider’s Party (BURP) on July 9 – 11, 2021 at the Willville Motorcycle Camp, http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/ just off US Hwy 58, Meadows of Dan, Virginia. Due to a short planning window, this will be a less elaborate Rally than our past event, so I will emphasize long rides on the wonderful, winding roads around Meadows of Dan, Virginia. Routes may include the following: http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/rides.htm?fbclid=IwAR1j_a8CaQwP6velv2vzcW7vAWyH90pZ9_QNyWj1xxKTd0Z4IVof_09TpJs Tentative Schedule: Friday night Dinner at El Charro Mexican Grill in Floyd, VA. Saturday morning ride TBD with a stop at a local restaurant TBD. Saturday afternoon ride down BRP, south on VA 8, VA 40 to Ferrum (Ooh! There’s a Dairy Queen there!) and return via US 58. Saturday night, depending on attendance and participation, hot dog cookout under the Pavilion – OR local restaurant TBD. Sunday morning: mass stampede to the Poor Farmer’s Market, MOD for biscuits and coffee. (Let’s see how many Urals will fit in their parking lot!) Pump up your tires, tighten the hack bolts, bring your favorite Monkey and come on down… Rick Guptill tubarick@bellsouth.net Cell Phone: 919/418-4045
  2. The Rally Politbureau asked me to head up this year's Fall Annural Rebellious Tour (FART) in October, 2020. Due to the extreme uncertainty of events and situations due to COVID 19, the FART is cancelled.
  3. The FART is once again upon us. Same place as usual - KOA East (Asheville) in Swannanoa, NC. Call 828/686-3121 for info or use the KOA website to make reservations. October 12 - 14. The usual Schedule is a group restaurant dinner off site on Friday night; ride around on Saturday and a group dinner of some sort on Saturday night. Commissars in charge are Mike and Karen.
  4. The Carolina Rally And Potluck is on! Same place as last year... Dates: 4-6 May 2018 (yes you can show up early or leave late) Place: Deep River Campground, Asheboro NC http://deeprivercampground.com/ Plan: Group dinner at local restaurant on Friday, Saturday morning group breakfast followed by games, local area rides and Ural instructional classes (taught by secret guest instructors), group Saturday dinner and awards, Sunday morning breakfast followed by pack up or more riding. Costs: If you are tent camping cost is $20 per night. I have already reserved the group camping area so we are good there. If you need an RV spot or want a cabin, contact Deep River Campground directly because the prices vary. Talk to LInda AND SHE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. Just tell her you are with the Ural rally. information Required: Need to know how many people in your party, whether you are tent camping or not, also whether you plan to ride or trailer your rig. Reminder this is a pot luck event so food contributions will be appreciated. Local riders like Tuba Rick and others go well beyond the call of duty so you will not go hungry. If anything, you might gain a few extra pounds. As we get closer to the rally I will put out a list of stuff we need.
  5. I hope it's not too late to post this, but the FART is this weekend at the KOA, Asheville East, NC. Pam and I visited our local Russian/Ukrainian store for Baltika, Obelon and Kvas. Pam also picked up a poppy cake and some candied fruit. I'm making Moravian Sugar Cake tomorrow. We're driving up on Thursday. Looks like attendance is 16 rigs and 21 personnel. We're looking forward to seeing everyone, especially new folks.
  6. Calling all Uralistas and Dnepr Dudes in central North Carolina. I've heard that the Ride for Kids Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation has a great need for sidecar rigs for this year's N.C. Triangle charity ride on May 7, 2017. The ride starts at White Oak Recreation Area, Jordan Lake State Park on US Hwy 64 west of Apex, NC. Registration 8 - 9:30 AM. Ride starts at 10:00 rain or shine. (The brochure states "kickstands up at 10:00, but we don't need no stinkin' kickstands!) Website: http//www.rideforkids.org
  7. I plan to attend. Tell all of our friends!
  8. Friend of mine needs one Russian made Ural shock for his sidecar. SHOCK FOUND - THANKS!
  9. Hi Ken. Do you have a Russian Ural shock laying around. A friend of mine needs one.
  10. Do the Ton Triangle motorcycle club is sponsoring the 2015 Eurobike Raleigh event on April 11, 2015. I've attended nearly every one and it's a lot of fun. http://www.eurobikeraleigh.com/
  11. I'll be there. FYI, there is a Ride 4 Kids event on that Sunday at Jordan Lake.
  12. Is that the one which covers the handgrips?
  13. I'm new to windshields. I bought a T and it had a National Cycle Street Shield on it. I would rather have a larger windshield. I'm down to the stock windshields as shown on the IMWA website - medium and large, and the batwing fairing. Gene has a couple of Plexiglas shields on his website as well. I would appreciate any input and your experiences with these different types before I write a check... Thanks,
  14. I'm coming, one way or the other. Looking forward to it.
  15. The round piece you're holding in your hand fits through the rubber grommet to the ground strap. This allows the ground through the bolt to the fender. On my bike, the ground strap broke off. I made a "jump wire" with some black wire and round electrical connectors. One connector is attached to a machine screw (which attaches the lens) and the other connector is placed against the fender and attached with a taillight assembly bolt. I don't remember any brown or black wires inside my 2003 taillight assembly.
  16. I plan on trailering down from NC. Not sure I can take 4 days on the road.
  17. I'd rather do 7-8-9, but I can make 14-16.
  18. I used Maine-ly Titles, now http://www.getnewtitle.com/ and received a legal title which was accepted by my home state. The only problem I ran into was that the frame serial number wasn't a VIN, so a State License & Theft officer had to inspect the bike. I passed that, too.
  19. Thanks for the heads up. Have you put this on the other site?
  20. I plan to be there and maybe drive up early Friday from the Raleigh area. Anyone out there want to drive up together?
